The students
are very excited this week and will soon settle
into their new environments. The teachers have
put much thought and effort into placing children
together in ways that will allow new friendships
to grow and great learning to occur. Any concerns
or anxiety that may sometimes be evident in the
first few days will be gone by the end of the
week. Please help in this process by remaining
calm and talking to the children about positive
things. Also speak with the class teacher if any
anxiety is evident after a few days.
The wet weather has delayed the start of our
new covered area but I am hoping the company will
begin construction in the next fortnight. Once
constructed this area will be used to hold movie
night. This will be a great activity for our community.
Please drop into the classrooms during the next
fortnight and say hello to your child's teacher
and let them know if you would like to help out
with class activities like reading. The children
and teachers find this support invaluable.
To all our Year 7 parents, don't forget that
the Year 7 Leadership camp is now in March (after
Easter break). This allows the students to form
great friendships and build strong learning partnerships.
This leads to enhanced outcomes for students throughout
the year.
More fantastic news has been received with the
confirmation of a chaplain appointed to our school
2 days a week. I would like to welcome Miss Lynn
Boyd to our staff. Lynn will live in Agnes Water
and also work at Rosedale State School. Lynn will
support teachers by focusing on co-developing
strong social values through our schools "You
Can Do It" Program. Lynn will also be available
to support families when needed.
To everyone in our parent community, I guarantee
my staff and I will help your child be a successful
learner and an active participant in our school
community in 2008.
I look forward to catching up with everyone in
the coming days. Meet the teachers in class from
4pm next Wednesday 13 February, get together afterwards
with teachers, ancillary staff and parents and
citizens members at the FREE SAUSAGE SIZZLE BBQ
from 5 pm. Lynn Boyd will also be officially introduced
next Wednesday.
